Rainbow  I teach Skating + how to teach Skating
I've been skating on and off since I was a child back in France, on quads for years, then inline, then back on quads for a bit of derby, and now back on inline. I immigrated to New Zealand 20 years ago and 5 years ago, it dawned on me that I was a born skater, that being off skates was not an option and that I should share this great sport with others. So I started a mobile skating school in my region, teaching in schools and halls, and doing regular roller discos. Last year, I put all my experience on paper and wrote 2 ebooks on the subject. I like guiding people who want to do something similar because I'd like skating to spread everywhere!

Hi Brigitte, thanks for sharing your story. I'm new to this site as well. By the way, do you teach people how to skate, or do you teach skaters how to run a skating business (or both??)

Hi Patrick, yes to both Smile I teach skating in my region and I help as much as I can people to do the same. It's a great sport but kids don't know about it until you introduce it to them. What do you do?

I have an office day job but I do spend some time roller skating on weekends. It really sounds like I can learn a lot from you! Where exactly do you hold skating lessons in NZ, and also "teaching others how to teach" skating?

Hi I read your post and it got me thinking. I used to love skating as a kid and got back into it recently and still love it. My daughter has started school now and I'd like to work part time and I thought this may be perfect for me. How does that work?

Good to hear! Maybe you could try to skate to work! Not always easy in NZ though, too much grass!! I teach in Northland but I assess people and help out from a distance. If you intend to teach at some point and not sure of your level, look at this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Fceyal9...87&index=1

Hi Linda, yes it's a great sport to share with your children. What age do kids start school in the Philippines? My son started at 5 (when I started my skate school) he is now 10 and he is such a confident skater (has been for a while too). I love having this in common with him. I made this video recently because I think mums are the ideal candidates https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0aMDIeF2...97TmHtX387
Let me know if you are that type of mum!

Hi Brigitte thanks for the response. Well, roller skating really isn't too popular in the Philippines. But there are some who really go out of their way to skate despite the hot weather! Yes I love the idea of teaching my kids some roller skating. It will give them the unique sense of freedom that I enjoy..lol. Any chance that you'll fly to the Phils. Someday? There are lots of parks here to hold roller skating classes. Smile

Thanks for the links I will definitely check them out!

Parks are good but also school yards and halls. If I ever go there, I'll let you know and hopefully by then, you'll be in full swing Smile
