I nailed all my falls, got my 20/5, and passed all my WFTDA minimum requirements!

Am officially an ACTIVE DERBY GIRL!

Five of us hit active status tonight! It was awesome!

CONTRATULATIONS! That is a huge accomplishment. It's good to see all the happy faces in that picture. Thanks for posting that.

We had some gals come over from Chattanooga to scrimmage with us newbies tonight... the veterans taught us a lot... their team captain *who was on my team at the time* taught me that being pushed without being ready for the push is bad.

Broke my ankle.

No more skating for me for a LONG time.

I can't help but be curious about exactly how it happened. Impact? Twisting? You landed on it? She landed on it? Was your opponent Kathy Bates?

so sorry to hear about that . I came down and checked you guys out. Was a little to far to drive. heal fast...

RES- It totally FEELS like I went rounds with Kathy Bates and LOST. ROFL

We were scrimmaging with some skaters from SCRD. We divided into teams and we had 2 veteran skaters from SCRD on each team. Their team captain was on my team. At some point I was in front of her... I've heard two stories- A) she was looking back and slammed into me without seeing me and B) she pushed me. Either way, I was skating along saw someone coming on my inside fast, I cut right to get out of the way and about the time I shifted weight to cut right... I felt like I was hit from behind by a bulldozer. I continued right but my left foot stayed "all four on the floor". I heard it snap.

Turns out I've torn all the cartilage and ligaments, fractured the bone up the back of the ankle. Broken the bone on top of the foot that connects to the ankle, broke the tibia and my ankle bones, fracture in another bone I can't remember the name of.

I see an orthopedic surgeon Thursday to see if it needs pins/plates/surgery... if not just a cast- and setting the bones (and praying to GOD it hasn't started healing wrong and have to be rebroken to be set properly).

It looks like there will be no skating for me from 4-8 months or more- depending on how much work needs to be done and how much pt after it heals.

Saw the orthopedic surgeon today. News was good. The "broken" bones my doctor said the radiologist reported on were merely dislocated... a nice hard POP and some pain but my ankle is back in place. I have a 3rd degree sprain. One fracture has already started to heal and the other one is not a fracture but a bone deformity that they can't do anything about.

I should be out of the boot and able to walk normally but carefully in 3 weeks.

I go back Jan. 5th... if all is well... he says he will release me to go out and break my other leg in derby.
