Came off our Whirlpool dishwasher. Whatever it is, my multimeter is saying it's shot. Thermostat maybe?[Image: qygybane.jpg]

I will name it "George".

Look under the lid for the model number. Then go HERE and start with searching the model number. They will have exploded views and all that. Even have videos of how to replace the stuff. Get the factory part number, and then search Ebay for best price.

Seriously Res????? George????? Come on. That part totally looks like a Herman or a Frank!

That's a nifty link there. Unfortunately, I thought it was the heating element. Didn't fix it so the wifey got a new one. To bad I didn't find George till I had pulled the dishwasher out and put it in the garage. But the wifey will be happier with a new one. This one was LOUD!

Are y'all sure George isn't a flux capacitor? I can probably get the ole dishwasher up to 88 mph!

I actually like this theory... a dishwasher doesn't actually wash dishes, it is a time machine that goes back in time to when the dishes were still clean.

Electrically actuated valve for filling or draining. The black thing is a coil of copper wire that pulls a steel rod inward to actuate the valve. When current is removed a spring pushes the internal mechanism back to the initial position (open/close). The size of the copper terminals is consistent with an actuator coil, and tells you that it is likely a somewhat high current device, which a thermostat is not.
