kattykaty - newb here
I am a newb attempting to play for the Soul City Sirens. I have much love for those more experienced than myself. I am having the most difficulty with getting life to leave me alone so i can just go to practice and with crossovers. i have read quite a bit of threads here so thought i should finally stop lurking.

RE: newb here
Welcome to the site. Glad you decided to dive in.
Please ask any questions that pop into your head so others can try to help. We all appreciate the help that we get/got along the way and love to share what we have learned. Are you just learning crossovers, or trying to perfect them? What else (besides life) is eating your lunch right now? |

RE: newb here
i went to my first derby practice back in March, i think. And promptly sprained my ankle. doctor said i almost broke it. thank goodness i didn't but it still gives me twinges every once in a while. I went back after the doctored ordered 8 weeks off skates to summer season of retail work stopping me from attending practice at every turn. Now when i can make it , i have a huge mental block i am trying to conquer about crossovers and falling.

RE: newb here
It's all about faith, once you get the feel for it you won't think you are about to fall.
Loosley translated, practice, practice, practice. After a while it gets so easy you don't even think about where your feet are and they will take care of themselves. |
