RE: New Kix for my Outdoor Skates.
Those are going to replace the corny looking artistic boots that I have on my outdoor setup. I don't know what these shoes were intended for, but they are nearly ideal as skate boots. The soles are very flat and quite stiff. Monting these will require more attention to detail than an actual skate boot, but the results should be worth it.
The $20 price tag was hard to resist, also. ![]() "They told me today they think I'll make a good jammer. I just smiled and nodded then came home and googled "jammer."" D$ Vanilla Thunder |

RE: New Kix for my Outdoor Skates.
Honda Racing? Are they driving shoes? Flat, smooth bottom that curls up onto the heel. That's what they look like. Or is that a track shoe?

I really don't know, to be honest. I looked on the Fila site, but it really didn't say. They are current production, but I found this one pair in the Clearance rack at Marchalls (in NJ). They seemed to be calling my name. ![]() "They told me today they think I'll make a good jammer. I just smiled and nodded then came home and googled "jammer."" D$ Vanilla Thunder |

RE: New Kix for my Outdoor Skates.
YES!! They are done!
![]() I skated them in the dark last night. They felt odd for about a minute. After that I was rexing down the driveway in them as if nothing had changed. These shoes have a foam core that is not ideal for skate use. However, properly mounted, they absorb tons of vibration. They are more comfortable and MUCH better looking than the art boots. If they don't hold up, I still have the art boots with the bolts still in them. ![]() I made thin "tin" plates to go inside that spread the load across the dense foam core. I dimpled these plates to accept flat head screws, and lock nutted them on the outside. The tin plates seem adequate, but I will keep an eye on the fasteners. If I see any settling, I will go back and add spacer tubes between the skate plate and tin plates. Old and busted: ![]() New hotness: ![]() ![]()

They look good. I'm not sure if the wheels look right on them or not. I think the wheels could use more bling.

RE: New Kix for my Outdoor Skates.
Yeah, they kinda' do look smallish. They are only about 58mm. Not only that, but teh shoes are 13. They are slightly long on me but they fit snugly enough. Maybe a half size too big.
