Mounting question

After I drill my hole, the sole is bunching up around the hole, like a little ring. What are y'all using to remove that so the bolt can sink down properly?

First, I use a knife, or whatever is handy, and trim away any loose, overhanging pieces. Then I install and snug the bolt to see if it even needs any further attention.
If it does, then I will use a large drill bit, turned by hand, to trim away the edges. If you put it in the drill you will just end up with an instant large hole, followed by a horrified look on your face. Stun
