Have you ever had a wheel fall off?
I don't remember ever losing a wheel while skating, but maybe you have?
It may have happened when I was little, but I don't remember. ![]() "They told me today they think I'll make a good jammer. I just smiled and nodded then came home and googled "jammer."" D$ Vanilla Thunder |

RE: Have you ever had a wheel fall off?
It hasn't happened to me, but I saw a young girl take a pretty bad header once because if a bearing failure. All the balls came out and off it went. The inner bearing stayed on the axle. It was the outer that failed.
It's good to check that stuff every time you skate, but who really does?

RE: Have you ever had a wheel fall off?
I seem to recall having a loose-ball wheel loose all of its balls, but I don't think the wheel came off. That was when I was little. Pretty sure it was wooden wheels, too.

RE: Have you ever had a wheel fall off?
it was a common problem back in the day. In my speed skating days we all ran on open bearings and wood wheels.... failures usually took someone out at least once per meet. broken wheels were fun too... nothing like a wheel breaking in half coming out of a corner.

When I was a kid I had one stop turning altogether. It stayed on but teh bearing jammed or something. It was a rental so I just exchanged it.

RE: Have you ever had a wheel fall off?
This happened to a girl at Derby Training the other night, and she didn't notice until one of the coaches said one of your wheels has come off! it's fair to say she was a little embarresed. We also had another girl about three week's ago who lost a wheel whilst skating along a path that runs alongside a local creek, unfortunately for her she watched her wheel roll into the creek, never to be seen again!

The derby girl didn't realize her wheel was missing?
![]() On the second one, I was expecting you to say that SHE went in the creek. |

RE: Have you ever had a wheel fall off?
I thought they were both pretty funny! the one who's wheel ended up in the creek had to walk home in her socks! I've been meaning to ask her exactly where it went in, so I can do a little fishing!
